You have completed your advanced flight training and after the winging ceremony, you have been selected to start flying the Grumman A-6 Intruder. This aircraft has the dubious distinction of being called "the ugliest plane in the navy", but that statement does not say anything about the aircraft's effectiveness in combat. Throughout its operational history, the A-6 has proven time and again that its reputation as the U.S. Navy's workhorse is well-deserved. So don't feel too bad about not being assigned to fighter training; you just got assigned to a navy classic! Grumman built the A-6 to fly and that will become clear in your training.
